The rapid and continual growth of GIS has spurred many organizations to review their governance structures and practices. Comprehensive governance programs address diverse areas or improved organizational effectiveness from strategic planning and stakeholder relationships to data stewardship and usage to budget management and investment. This session will define what governance is, how it applies to GIS, and how it can improve organizational performance and decision making.
