About me
Andrew Turner is the CTO of ArcGIS Hub and Director of Esri’s R+D Center in Washington, DC where they are developing new technology for open data sharing and geospatial web collaboration. His work enables organizations to provide public digital infrastructure for citizen and community engagement, ranging from global organizations such the World Bank and NOAA, to numerous counties, cities, provinces, and local government around the world.
Andrew was the CTO of GeoIQ, which was acquired by Esri in 2012. He co-founded CrisisCommons, is an elected charter member of the OSGeo Foundation, has served on committees at the The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine Geographic Sciences Committee, was recognized by GovTech as a Top 25 Doer & Driver of Government, and wrote the industry changing book “Introduction to Neogeography” and the “Trends in Where2.0” business report.
Andrew received his B.S in Aerospace Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Virginia and a master’s in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech.
